A woman was injured with what is believed to be either a pellet or BB gun in Blackpool.

Between 2pm and 2.15pm on Friday, the 32-year-old was waiting to cross the road on Grosvenor Street at the junction of Caunce Street.

She felt a pain in her left cheekbone and realised she had been shot at with either a pellet or BB gun by somebody in a passing black car.

The woman was taken hospital and underwent an x-ray; it was confirmed she hadn’t suffered any fractures, but did suffer swelling to her left eye.

There was another woman who was crossing the road at the same time as the victim and police are keen to trace her.

PC Gail Walters said: “This was a nasty attack and the woman’s injuries could have been worse.

"I would appeal to anybody who saw anything to contact police.

“I am also very keen to trace another woman who was stood next to the victim at the time of the incident, it may well be that she could provide us with information which could lead us to the person or people responsible – if this was you please come forward.”
