LANCASHIRE County Council’s Family Information Service (FIS) is to be presented with a quality award.

Staff will be given the Families First Quality Award today, as a mark of the high level of information available to families in the county about childcare and children’s services.

Assessor Heather Neilson-Cox said: “The service offered is clearly focused on the needs of their clients.

They are a close-knit team who enjoy their work.

“Their key strength is that they do not shy away from anything that goes wrong, but actively seek to change and develop.”

County councillor Keith Iddon said: "The FIS is a fantastic resource for parents in Lancashire and this recognition is well deserved.

“Parents often tell us that there is a lack of straightforward, easily accessible information to help them make informed choices on childcare and other services to suit their needs.”
