A CAMPAIGN will be launched today to urge people in the North West to support the fight of terrorism at a neighbourhood level.
Anti-terrorist officers are promoting an ‘Every Call Counts’ intiiative as part of a national drive to crack down on potential insurgents.
Detective Chief Superintendent Tony Porter, head of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit, said: “People hold the key.
“It is important that they feel able to contact us if they have noticed anything they think is suspicious.
"We have expert officers with significant experience who can assess the information and decide on the most appropriate course of action.
“Sometimes that may be doing nothing but there are times when the piece of information given is the final piece of a jigsaw for us.”
People in possesion of mutiple passports, anyone buying large quantities of chemicals or those who come into a large sum of money unexpectedly are among the clues identified by police.
Poster and postcards will be distributed throughout the campaign with details of the anti-terrorism hotline number - 0800 789 321.
