Top Gear crew to light-up Blackpool

Blackpool’s famous lights switch-on will feature on Top Gear this week as the team take on one of their famous challenges.

Back in August Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May and the Stig attempted to drive from Basel in Switzerland to Blackpool on a single tank of fuel, and still make it in time to turn on the town’s Illuminations.

Coun Maxine Callow, cabinet member for tourism and regeneration at Blackpool Council, said: “Blackpool was delighted that the Top Gear team came to turn on this year’s illuminations and they were a very popular choice.

“I am intrigued by the challenge and looking forward to seeing the story behind the switch on and just what happened to the presenters on their journey.”

Tune into BBC Two at 8pm this Sunday to see the team’s challenge.
