As part of the Blackpool Council’s plan to provide modern youth services, bosses want to hear the thoughts of residents on youth hubs and the benefits they might offer.

It comes as part of the Government’s ten year strategy to improve the range of activities available for young people, which includes providing hub facilities that allow a social meeting point for young people.

The long term vision of the Blackpool Children’s Trust Board is to develop three youth hub facilities in Blackpool North, Central and South.

Councillor Don Clapham, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “It is vitally important to understand what young people, parents and the wider public want and need from youth facilties which is why we are asking for their opinions.

“In the coming weeks we will submit a bid for funding to create a new youth facility in the south of Blackpool.”

To make your views known you can take part in the survey by logging onto the Blackpool Council web site www.blackpool.gov.uk and clicking on to the survey link on the right and then on the Blackpool’s New Youth Centre bid link to complete the questionnaire.

If you want to be more involved you are also invited to attend a consultation event at the City Learning Centre Grange Park Sat 13 September from 10am to 12pm or 2pm to 4pm. Drinks and refreshments will be available.

If you are interested in attending the event contact Stuart Dunne or Fiona Jones on 01253 754840 or email fiona@rubothered.co.uk for details.
