Man suffers thumb injury following alleged Blackpool assault

Police in Blackpool are appealing for witnesses following an alleged assault on South Promenade on Friday.

The alleged assault took place outside McDonalds on South Promenade at about 1am following a disturbance involving a number of men.

As a result, a 23 year-old man from the Blackpool area received a serious injury to his thumb, requiring surgery at the Royal Preston Hospital.

DC Sean Burrell said: “At the time of the incident a dark-coloured car containing five females pulled over to assist the injured male.

"We are very keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, but we are particularly interested in speaking to these females, as they may have vital information which could assist us in tracing the offenders.”
