The Illuminations won’t be the only thing lighting up Blackpool this week, when Lancashire and Surrey converge on Stanley Park for their crucial LV County Championship match starting tomorrow.
The fixture is likely to decide the club’s fate in this year’s title race.
A win will put them right back in the mix, a loss will see the dream of the Division 1 title end for another season.
Cricket manager Mike Watkinson has named a 14-man squad, including Oliver Newby who has recently returned from a loan spell at Gloucestershire and Lou Vincent.
Twenty-year-old top order batsman Karl Brown also comes into the squad for Mal Loye and if named in the starting XI will make his championship debut.
Sajid Mahmood, side strain and Stuart Law back spasms missed yesterday’s Pro40 match after sustaining injuries during the Championship match at Kent, but both have been named in this week’s squad subject to fitness.
Tickets are available on the day and are adults £12, seniors £8 and juniorU16 £4.
Gates open at 9am and play is scheduled to start at 11am.
