The stars are burning brightly for three friends at Rossall School, Fleetwood, who have racked up 28, A* and A grade passes between them in this year’s GCSE results.

The talented trio of Olivia Airey of Stanley Park, Blackpool, plus Laura Howarth and Nicola Blythe of Cleveleys found the right formula to sail through their GCSE’s with A* or A pass grades in every subject and can’t wait to celebrate their tremendous achievement with a slap up meal.

Budding scientist, Olivia gained nine in total with eight A* and one A, including A* passes in physics, biology and chemistry.

Laura, who passed ten, gained three A* and seven A’s to help her on the way to fulfilling her ambition of becoming a paediatrician.

Nicola bagged nine, with four A* and five A passes and is relishing A-Levels in Rossall’s sixth form.

The girls all shared top passes in core subjects and helped Rossall School to record its highest results in eight years.

Laura Howarth said: “I didn’t expect to do this well and I would have settled for B’s in each subject, but to get straight A’s is fantastic and I’ll certainly be celebrating tonight with the girls and my family.”

For Laura’s mother, Lynne, who is quality manager for Blackpool Council’s Adult Community Learning Programme, the results are a proud moment.

She commented: “Despite what people say, I know just how much time and effort Laura and all her school friends have put into their studies and I don’t believe that GCSE’s are getting easier. I’m immensely proud of Laura’s achievement, although I don’t really know which member of the family she takes after, because nobody in the family has ever done this well.

"I’m most pleased though because she’s one step nearer her dream of becoming a paediatrician, which is all she’s ever wanted to do.”

Overall, Rossall maintained its near 100 per cent pass rate A* - G grades and increased it’s A* - C grade pass rate to 93.5 per cent, which is an eight year best.
