Woman visiting Blackpool family goes missing

Police in Blackpool are appealing for help in finding a missing 31-year-old woman.

Bernadette Melody Mathews, who lives in Stockport but was visiting family in Blackpool, has been missing since Monday.

She last made contact with her family just after 4am from a telephone kiosk in Talbot Square.

Police have concerns for her welfare and need people to help them locate her.

She was last seen in the Blackpool area but could have returned home to Stockport.

Bernadette is described as being white, slim build, 5ft 8ins tall, with short dyed blonde hair but is believed to be wearing a red shoulder length wig.

She was wearing a multi-coloured, striped, long sleeved top with beige trousers, a soft beige hat and white open toed sandals.

She was carrying a green bag containing clothing and also had a fresh cut to her lip.

Insp Jacqui Hirst from Blackpool Police said: "If you see Bernadette or have any information regarding her whereabouts please call Blackpool Police on 01253 293933 quoting log reference number 0782 from 18 August or dial 999 in an emergency."
