Machete used in armed robbery in St Annes

A security man was threatened with a machete during a robbery in St Anne’s today.

The Group 4 Securicor worker, was badly shaken but uninjured after three masked men confronted him at the Tesco Express in Kilnhouse Lane around 1pm.

A fourth man drove the thieves, who escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, towards the promenade in a silver Mercedes.

The car was found abandoned in Eaves Road, near the Harvester pub.

One of the robbers was approximately 20, of slim build with a shaved head.
