Three people have been turfed out of their Blackpool council homes following a string of nuisance behaviour.

Blackpool Coastal Housing has evicted three tenants in the last two weeks for breaking their tenancy agreement and disrupting the lives of their neighbours.

On July 15 the first of the three evictions took place against an 18 year old man with an introductory tenancy from Chepstow Road, following breaches of his tenancy agreement, the illegal abstraction of electricity and non payment of rent.

Numerous warnings had been given to the tenant concerning inappropriate disposal of household waste, but despite these he continued to leave his household waste strewn all over the communal footpath.

Also, during a routine visit, it was noted that the illegal abstraction of electricity was taking place in the property.

On July 25, two more evictions took place. The first was a 40 year old man with a secure tenancy, from Rodwell Walk, Blackpool, following non payment of rent and his conviction for the cultivation of cannabis.

On the same day a 39 year old man from Kilmory Place, Blackpool, also with a secure tenancy, was evicted following non-payment of rent and repeated acts of serious anti-social behaviour.

His behaviour included causing included criminal damage, public order offences, assaulting members of the public, threatening and abusive behaviour towards staff and members of the public, drunken abuse directed at staff and members of the public, shouting and swearing.

After giving the tenant a number of chances to change his behaviour the council said officers had no option left but to evict him.

Peter Jefferson, chief executive, said: “It is important that we send out a strong message that this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.

“The majority of our tenants abide by their tenancy agreements and live in harmony with their neighbours.

"The residents of Kilmory Place have been subject to shocking anti social behaviour and it’s down to their co operation that we have managed to collate the evidence to secure these convictions.

“We don’t want anyone to suffer in silence with anti social behaviour.

"Tenants can come to us and we will do all that we can to help them.”
