The Mayor of Fylde has introduced some cute friends that she hopes will boost the funding to her charity campaign.

Councillor Susan Fazackerley has acquired a stock of small pin badges which depict a little teddy bear in mayoral robes and will be up for sale to residents to show their support for the mayor’s charity fund.

All money raised from the sale of the bears, up for grabs at just a pound, will be divided equally amongst the mayor’s chosen charities; Trinity Palliative Care Services, Marie Curie Cancer Care and Easterleigh Animal Sanctuary.

The mayor’s charity fund has already been kicked off she hopes to raise a considerable amount throughout the next year.

There are already several charitable events in the diary that should attract a lot of attention.

In the next few weeks, for example, there is a luncheon at the Lindum Hotel which members of the public can attend and enjoy an excellent meal and an after-lunch talk by local raconteur George Dobson.

The Mayor said: “I am hoping that my mayoral charities will be supported not only by my council colleagues and friends but also by other Fylde residents.

"We are planning to organise events that will appeal to all age groups within the Fylde and that people will really enjoy as well as making money for good causes”.

The bears will be available from the reception desk at the town hall and also from the mayor herself at any of the charity events.
