A Lytham St Annes taxi driver has been convicted of three counts of perverting the course of justice, after trying to avoid a driving ban.
Avner Levi, 60, a taxi driver who, at the time of the offences, was working for Whitesides Taxis of St Annes, was caught by a speed camera on three occasions in 2006.
On each occasion Levi returned the paperwork to Lancashire Police and stated that a foreign visitor had been driving his taxi at the time each offence was committed.
At the time of these offences Levi had six points on his licence and faced a possible driving ban.
However, investigation revealed that his employer operated a state-of-the-art computer system that logs all driver activity.
This showed that at the time of each offence, Levi was actively engaged on driving jobs.
He was sentenced at Preston Crown Court to six months imprisonment, which was suspended for twelve months, and was subject to a six month supervision order.
