Bupa's Bankhouse Nursing Home, Shard Road, Hambleton, will be holding a Fruity Friday event in aid of World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK) on Friday to raise money to support research into cancer prevention.

The home will be holding a guess the weight of the fruit basket' competition and the residents will be invited to attend tasting session with fruits from around the world.

Viv Ogden, home manager of Bupa's Bankhouse, said: "We are all looking forward to getting fruity for the World Cancer Research Fund!

"We hope to raise awareness and money for the charity as well as have lots of fun!"

As well as raising money to support vital research into cancer prevention, Fruity Friday aims to educate people about the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Studies have shown that we can reduce our risk of cancer by up to 40 per cent making simple lifestyle changes such as eating lots of plant-based foods, increasing our consumption of fruit and vegetables, watching our weight and taking regular exercise.
