Blackpool's budding Nancy Jodie Prenger has inched closer to her dream of a West End role after making the quarter-finals of TV's I'd Do Anything.

The Newton Drive 28-year-old turned in an excellent performance of If I Aint Got You on the Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber talent search, looking for a leading lady to play Nancy in the hit musical Oliver.

Denise Van Outen, one of the experts sitting on the panel and herself a West End leading actress, said: "You definitely have the voice for Nancy, perfect for the West End."

Fellow panellist John Barrowman added: "A fantastic performance. You deserve to be in the quarter finals."

While Barry Humphries went one further and said Jodie "must be a finalist".
