A Blackpool attraction is on the lookout for a Reliant Regal, as owned by the TV Trotter family, to add the finishing touches to their latest creation.

The staff at Louis Tussaud's Waxworks are showing off two of the nation's favourite TV characters in their Best of British exhibition, with Del Boy and Rodney from Only Fools and Horses appearing at the attraction from July.

But the Trotters wouldn't be the same without their three-wheeled yellow van, and time is running out to find a suitable vehicle.

Mathew Titherington, general manager at Louis Tussaud's, said: "Most people think that Del drove a Robin Reliant, when in fact to those in the know it was a Reliant Regal.

"I have bid on online auctions, scoured car press and local garages but the ones that I have found I have been pipped to the post in buying."

Louis Tussaud's bosses have now launched a search across the North West to see if owners of Reliant Regals might come forward and offer their vehicle to the attraction - for a good price or for long-term rent.

Mr Titherington added: "Reliant enthusiasts will have the knowledge that their pride and joy is going to a good home. And while Del Boy and Rodney are as realistic as they come they won't be doing a single mile in their new set of wheels."

The Reliant Regal doesn't have to be the trademark colour, as long as the car is in good condition as it will be sprayed to ensure that it's just the right shade of dirty yellow.

The owner of the car which is selected will also receive a lifetime pass to the attraction so that they can visit the car whenever they like.

Reliant Regal owners wshould contact 01772 421 442 or e-mail robin@mtjpr.co.uk with details.

There used to be a company in Blackburn that had the moulds for the Reliants, but I have no idea if the company is still trading.
