The countdown has begun for local primary schools and youth groups to sign up for Mini Pots of Care, a fun and educational planting activity that raises funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The charity is inviting primary schools and youth groups aged three to 11 to get their hands dirty this October by growing daffodils for its Mini Pots of Care fundraiser, run in partnership with Yellow Pages directories.
In the autumn, children plant a daffodil bulb in their own mini pot which they care for until the bulbs bloom to reflect the care that Marie Curie Nurses provide to terminally ill patients.
In spring the children paint their pots and take their daffodils home to someone they care about in return for a donation to the charity.
Free planting kits and activity worksheets are available for everyone who signs up.
Teachers and leaders need to register for the activity by October 17, 2008, at www.mariecurie.org.uk/minipotsofcare or by calling 08700 340 040.
