I read with great interest your piece on Blackpool Olympic swimmer Lucy Morton as my sister Nancy was a pupil of hers.

Nancy was handicapped so heavily in the Palatine Gala that two swimmers finished the race before she was allowed to start.

This upset her mother so much that she refused to let Nancy enter the swimming gala again. But Nancy kept up her swimming and joined Windsor Woolies part-time.

She also performed in the circus in the swimming sequence and dived many times from the top of South Shore baths during several swimming galas.

She was still swimming at the age of 70.
