Various Artists - This is the Modern World (Universal) Album Just what makes a mod anthem? The funny thing about this bountiful compilation is the smattering of 70s revivalists like Secret Affair and The Jam among what is to all intents and purposes a 'best of' 6os and 70s pop and soul classics.
What it shows is just how great the greats were: Motown and Stax giants, Kinks Who, SPG. And just how poor -The Jam apart - the 70s mod revival was. The likes of the Chords, Lambrettas, Secret Affair proving that sometimes imitation isn't the greatest form of flattery, even if if it is sincere.
