Review: Mutton @ King George’s Hall, Blackburn

Mutton Mutton

IT was billed as “a show where you won’t feel embarrassed to wet yourself”.

Personally my bladder never felt threatened, but the group of 50-something women cackling in front of me probably couldn’t have said the same.

Highlights in the sketch show included a sing-along about memory loss and hot flushes and a joke about bullimic shopping (buying clothes then taking them back).

The gag: “My husband keeps asking me to dress up as a nurse. I said at his age a care worker would be more appropriate” also got a big laugh.

Mutton isn’t a show for everyone. I didn’t laugh out loud much, but found it surprisingly uplifting to watch.

All in all, good clean humour, especially enjoyable for women of a certain age.
