IT'S only been a week since we last saw slimy Rex, sleazy Mikey, boring Rachel, crazy Kat and the rest of the Big Brother inmates ... but oh how I’ve missed them and their repulsive habits.

Thankfully the bods at C4 guessed the nation of TV addicts would be missing their daily fix of Big Brother and have decided to wean us off lightly — and that's where last night's Big Brother: What the Housemates Did Next came in.

The show, following this year's candidates showed how they had acclimatised to life outside the compound.

Much like a documentary about a wild animal being released from captivity, the cameras followed the housemates who went back to their home towns and discovered life was a whole lot different now millions of people recognised their faces.

You half expected Michaela Strachan to be sitting behind a bush watching their antics.

What struck me more than anything was how many housemates there were this year — Big Brother, it seemed, lasted weeks longer than previous years and the forgotten debris of early-axed housemates was a surprise.

Some things don't change though — namely Rex’s ridiculous “dry cone” hair do. Someone please get that man to a barber pronto.
