A WORD on Gok Wan's new show, Gok's Fashion Fix.

Whilst I am enjoying watching, there are a few flaws in the new format that are getting a bit irritating.

The premise of the show is that Gok travels around the country with his mobile catwalk to find the UK's most fashionable people. So far so good.

But the other half of the show — where Gok is pitted against a team of stylists with an unlimited budget and access to some of the world's top designer clothes — seems a little staged to me.

Every week we get a team of models trotting down the runway in Roberto Cavalli, Pucci, Chloe, and all those other designer brands we know the names of because of celebrity mags, but can’t actually afford. Mixed in are Gok's models, all wearing high street clothes that he has accessorised, hacked to pieces and re-modelled, on a budget of £200 per outfit.

The audience has to vote which one they like best — and surprise surprise, guess who always wins?

For a start, I'd argue that £200 is a lot for one outfit for most of us — even more so when you consider last night's show was focusing on holiday clothes. I mean, how much can a bikini and a pair of flip flops cost? Has Gok never heard of Primark?

Also, most of the audience probably don’t have designer wardrobes, so they’d naturally tend to like what's in the High Street more.

Still, it's not bad for Thursday night viewing.
