I FEEL kind of sorry for Max Branning. OK, he slept with his son's fiancee.

OK, he lied and cheated and did the dirty on his loving wife Tanya.

OK, he's got a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp and cries at the drop of a hat.

But karma has definitely caught up with him, and EastEnder's biggest love rat since Dirty Den is paying for his actions big time.

Tanya's holed up with his younger, significantly better looking (and non-ginger) brother and it looks like Bradley and Stacey are going to get back together and put the whole sordid affair behind them.

Which leaves Max nothing left to do but twiddle his thumbs and come up with a tasty spot of revenge.

Lucky for him, there's the handy little fact that his wife and her lover buried him alive.

But this is a soap and ratings have to be built, so he's hardly likely to reveal that trump card yet is he?

Max did, however, begin his payback last night, announcing to the whole of the Vic that Tanya has been sleeping with his brother (Why he thinks anyone in Walford would give two hoots is anyone's guess).

Max, who has been "buried alive" not once, but twice by his nearest and dearest, surely must be getting the message by now: nobody wants you around.

But he's not going that easily.

Actor Jake Wood, who plays Max Branning, has suddenly made EastEnders must-watch TV.
