SO that’s why we’ve kept hearing things about the bees going missing every week in Doctor Who?

If you missed Saturday’s episode it’s too complicated to explain.

But with Russell T Davies, the man responsible for turning a failed franchise into a huge Saturday night success, bowing out after next week’s finale it looks as though he’s determined to go out with a bang.

OK it’s not the Sopranos, but storylines from pervious episodes are being cleverly woven back into this two-parter. The Doctor’s even got all his old chums back to help him fight the Daleks.

Quite how some tin cans with warts can be so scary I’m not sure, but even after all these years you only need to hear “Ex-ter-min-ate” and mentally you’re hiding behind the sofa.

This last series has veered from the brilliant, if confusing - did you honestly fully understand the storyline from the Library?, to the noisy - the one on the space transporter where everyone shouted at each other all the time.

But it looks as though we’ve been saved the best ‘til last.

Although I have one minor quibble. What’s happened to Rose Tyler’s top lip?

She seems to be talking as though she’s wearing a gumshield. Perhaps the time travelling’s starting to tell.

Anyway, having been zapped by a Dalek, the Doctor’s set to regenerate. Into what we’ll find out next week.
