Lytham-born actor Jonas Armstrong took time out from Sherwood Forest to help open the Linden Centre, the newest part of Trinity Hospice in Bispham.

The 27-year-old, best known for his role as Robin Hood in the BBC show, visited children at the hospice as part of the official opening day.

The centre, which offers bereavement support, was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the mayors of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

The centre on Low Moor Road has been operating for around a year and is opposite Trinity Hospice and has already helped hundreds of people.

Rebecca Clitheroe, head of counselling support services said: "The launch was vitally important in letting the public know about us and raising our profile.

"It was great to see so many people here."
