Shocked grandmother Ann Hastings thought she had been hoodwinked' when she spotted a photograph in her favourite local paper.

For Ann, 69, hoodn't' believe it when she read in the Citizen about local actor Jonas Armstrong playing the role of Robin Hood in the new BBC1 drama series.

For her grandson Jamie Hastings is the spitting-image of famous Jonas and she did a double-take when she saw the picture.

She said: "I just can't believe the remarkable likeness. Can you tell me who is who?"

Postman Jamie, 21, who works in Blackpool, explained: "I am always being mistaken for Robin Hood.

"Funnily enough I know Jonas as we were at school at the same time. He went to Arnold in Blackpool and I went to Cardinal Allen in Fleetwood."

Jamie, of Halton Avenue, Thornton, says he doesn't have the same personality traits as Robin Hood but would love to be his stand-in.

He said: "I have never studied drama or anything but I am now waiting to be snapped up and to become famous!"

Proud Ann of Coronation Road, Cleveleys, added: "Jamie is a wonderful lad and he deserves some recognition. You never know he may be famous one day.

"Should they both wear the same clothes then I think Jonas would be very worried and looking over his shoulder."

The new 13-part series of Robin Hood is being shown on Saturdays at 7.10pm.

It's a prestigious role for Jonas who grew up in St Annes.

The new version of the classic story has been made to appeal to the modern audience.
